Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Property and Buildings team in Australia. You will lead and deliver civil engineering projects from inception through construction, collaborating with diverse professionals to achieve future-ready outcomes for clients and communities.

We value Chartered professionals and those with Australian/NZ project experience. Expect varied work across sectors with a national team approach, contributing to sustainable and resilient built environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor to Masters' level degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered status with Engineers Australia is desirable.
  • Proven experience on Australian or NZ civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver civil engineering projects from inception through construction.
  • Manage client communications and professional relationships.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary national team across sites and design management.
  • Oversee junior engineers, delegating tasks and ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Ensure alignment with Aus/NZ standards and codes.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver on time and within budget.

Our Property and Buildings team is a world-leading management and technical consultancy operating across all sectors. We are passionate about tackling the complex and sophisticated challenges of the built environment and delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to create accessible, resilient and liveable communities.

Our NSW team is working on small, medium and large projects across a range of sectors, including projects in Defence and DFAT. But we have a national team approach to all our projects, which means you will work on projects across Australia, not just projects in the ACT, ensuring you gain a breadth of experience across a diverse range of projects and industries.

What you’ll do:
  • Work on iconic projects
  • Manage ongoing communication and highly effective professional relationships with clients;
  • Lead and deliver current civil engineering projects from inception through to construction in support of technical and commercial standards, and within time constraints and cost budgets;
  • Work in a varied, hands-on role with a leadership angle across design management, superintendency and site surveillance
  • Delegate and supervise the work of junior engineers, and;
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and a collaborative, national team in a multidisciplinary engineering setting.
About You
  • Bachelor to Masters' level degree (Civil Engineering)
  • Chartered status with Engineers Australia (desirable)
  • Relevant industry experience on Australian or NZ civil engineering projects from a selection of sectors is essential, e.g. commercial, residential, industrial, land development including stormwater design and management.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience as a Civil Engineer in the Property and Building space within consulting.
  • Well versed in effectively delivering multiple, concurrent projects ranging in scale and sector, e.g. commercial, residential, industrial, land development, subdivisions and infrastructure/roads;
  • Strong client relationship management and project management skills;
  • Sound working knowledge of relevant Aus/NZ Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3500, NCC etc.);
  • Proficiency with 12D and Civil 3D highly desirable ;
  • Highly developed customer-focus, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Proficiency in stormwater programme 'DRAINS' would be highly desirable
  • Proficiency in water quality programme 'MUSIC' would be desirable
