Job summary

Montessori Academy in Sydney is seeking a kitchen assistant to support morning tea, lunch, and snacks across our centres. The role involves food preparation, safe handling for children with allergies, and helping with classroom meal service.

You will also assist with cleaning, promote the Montessori approach to families, and work in a supportive, collaborative team. A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate and WWCC are preferred, with shifts from 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate must be current.
• Current Working with Children Check is required.
• First Aid Certificate is required or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon snack.
• Safe food handling for allergic/anaphylactic children.
• Meal plating and service and taking to classrooms.
• Kitchen cleaning and dishwashing.
• Cleaning of office, staffroom, foyer and other areas if needed.
• Positively promote and market the centre to families and the community.
• Be an advocate of the Montessori Method to parents and potential clients.
