Job summary

Cheeky Clouds Early Learning Centre is seeking a part-time Cook in Corio, VIC 3214 to support the health, nutrition and wellbeing of the children by preparing nutritious, balanced meals in a fast-paced early learning environment.

You will ensure meals meet dietary requirements and contribute to development. Requires Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Food Safety Supervisor, First Aid/CPR, Working with Children Check and Police Check, plus a willingness to undertake child-safety training.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or above in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Working with Children's check.
• Be willing to undertake Mandatory Child Safety Training.
• Police Check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals in accordance with current nutrition guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, including proper storage and handling.
• Accommodate children's allergies, dietary restrictions, religious and cultural preferences.
• Manage food inventory, ordering and stock rotation to ensure cost-effective operations.
• Maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen environment and health/safety compliance.
• Collaborate with educators and families to understand individual children's nutritional needs.
• Prepare special occasion meals and catered events as required.
• Monitor portion sizes and presentation to encourage healthy eating habits.
• Maintain accurate records of menus and food preparation.

The successful candidate will join a growing team, passionate about Early Childhood Education in theCorio area.
The service is open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm Monday to Friday with rotational rosters.

About the role

Cheeky Clouds Early Learning Centre is seeking a Child Care Centre Cook to join our team on a part-time basis in Corio, VIC 3214. As our Cook, you will play a vital role in supporting the health, nutrition and wellbeing of the children in our care by preparing nutritious, balanced and appealing meals in a fast-paced early learning environment. This position is essential to our centre's operations, ensuring that all children receive quality meals that meet their dietary requirements and contribute positively to their development and growth.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals in accordance with current nutrition guidelines and dietary requirements
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, including proper food storage, handling and preparation practices
• Accommodate children's allergies, dietary restrictions, religious and cultural food preferences
• Manage food inventory, ordering and stock rotation to ensure cost-effective operations
• Maintain a clean and well‑organised kitchen environment, adhering to relevant health and safety standards
• Collaborate with educators and families to understand individual children's nutritional needs
• Prepare special occasion meals and catered events as required
• Monitor portion sizes and presentation to encourage healthy eating habits amongst children
• Maintain accurate records of menus and food preparation

What you will need

• Certificate III or above in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant qualification and experience
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Working with Children's check
• Be willing to undertake Mandatory Child Safety Training
• Have or be willing to undertake a Police Check
• Knowledge of nutrition requirements for early childhood settings and understanding of dietary guidelines for young children
• Experience working in a commercial kitchen or early learning environment
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, including allergen management
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities in a busy environment
• Demonstrated commitment to working with children and supporting their wellbeing
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work
