Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland seeks a Child and Family Practitioner to deliver holistic support to vulnerable children, young people and families within the Family Intervention Service in Ipswich. You’ll address needs of each family member, supporting those at risk of out-of-home care or reunification after care.

You will work with families in their homes, delivering practical and emotional support, enabling informed decisions about their future, with a focus on safety and family wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level qualification in a relevant human services discipline with experience.
• Experience working with children and families.
• Ability to deliver high-quality professional practice and achieve results.

Child and Family Practitioner | Family Intervention Service | Ipswich

• Employment Term: Maximum Term to 30 April 2027, Part-Time (7 days per fortnight, days negotiable)
• Location: Ipswich
• Remuneration: $53.43 per hour + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team

As a Child and Family Practitioner, you will provide support to vulnerable children, young people, and families within the Family Intervention Service (FIS).

This role delivers a holistic response to the needs of each family member and the family as a whole, supporting families whose children are at imminent risk of entering out-of-home care, or who require reunification following a period of out-of-home care.

In This Role You’ll

• Work intensively with families in their homes to address issues relating to, but not limited to, child protection concerns.
• Deliver a combination of practical and emotional support and counselling to support families to make informed decisions to about their future.

What makes a difference for us?

• A tertiary qualification (a bachelor’s degree or higher) in a relevant human services discipline coupled with relevant experience.
• Demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through experience working with children and families.
• The ability to achieve results through personal proficiency while delivering high-quality professional practice.
• Experience in the child protection sector will be highly regarded.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Current Drivers Licence.
