Job summary

Skip Loans is seeking a chief risk and compliance leader to elevate the firm’s risk, compliance, and legal framework into a proactive, scalable function. You will own the risk appetite, governance, and assurance programs, reporting to the COO with a direct line to the Board Risk Committee.

This is a genuine build role in a fast‑growing fintech, with automation, external counsel management, and a path to CRO.

Qualifications

• 8+ years across risk, compliance or financial services regulation.
• Experience in Australian credit license environment (NCCP Act, ASIC guides).
• Experience in a business of circa 150 people; scalable framework.
• Ability to identify and monitor operational risks and controls.
• Commercial judgment; differentiate between license risk and operational tidiness.
• Collaborative, pragmatic style with frontline, product and operations teams.
• Excellent written communication; board-ready papers.

Responsibilities

• Own and deepen the compliance obligations register across NCCP Act, Privacy and AML/CTF, and CDR.
• Own the enterprise risk register with remediation tracking and board-aligned cadence.
• Define and publish Skip's risk appetite for decision-making.
• Design and run rolling compliance monitoring across origination, servicing, collections and hardship.
• Own the policy suite, calendar, complaints and reporting obligations.
• Own TMD and DDO review processes and align products with regulatory requirements.
• Evidence distribution across broker, aggregator, white-label and direct channels per TMD.
• Influence product development early to shape design.
• Own internal dispute resolution under RG 271; AFCA obligations.
• Own incident/breach register, remediation and RG 78 reporting mechanics.
• Oversee outsourcing and third-party risk registers and assessments.
• Governance and reporting to Risk Committee; board materials.
• Drive policy checks into origination and automation for breaches.
• Design role-based compliance training for cross-functional teams.
