Job description

Relationships Australia Northern Territory (RA-NT) is one of the Territory's leading providers of relationship, family and community support services. With a strong reputation, committed workforce and meaningful presence across Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, the Tiwi Islands and other service locations, RA-NT supports individuals, families and communities to build stronger relationships and more resilient futures.

The Board is now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next phase of strategic growth and organisational maturity. This is an opportunity to build on strong foundations, strengthen sustainability, diversify revenue streams and lead the development of the organisation's next strategic plan while maintaining its deeply relationship-focused ethos.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO will provide strategic leadership across a geographically dispersed and purpose-driven organisation. The successful candidate will guide organisational strategy, culture, funding sustainability, stakeholder engagement and service excellence while supporting effective governance and Board decision-making.
Key priorities will include:

  • Leading the organisation's next strategic planning process.
  • Expanding and diversifying revenue sources.
  • Building a cohesive culture across all locations.
  • Supporting a respectful leadership transition.
  • Strengthening relationships with funders, partners, communities and stakeholders.
  • Positioning RA-NT for continued growth and social impact across the Northern Territory.

About You
You are a values-led executive who combines strategic vision with commercial acumen and authentic people leadership. You bring the emotional intelligence, resilience and professional maturity required to lead a complex human services organisation while navigating diverse stakeholder expectations.
You may currently be:

  • A Chief Executive Officer.
  • A Deputy CEO.
  • An Executive Director.
  • A senior executive seeking a broader leadership platform.
  • An accomplished leader ready to move into your first CEO appointment.

Your experience is likely to include:

  • Strategic leadership in community, social services, health, disability, family support, family violence, mental health, Indigenous affairs or related sectors.
  • Working effectively with Boards and governance frameworks.
  • Leading funding, growth and business development initiatives.
  • Financial stewardship and commercial decision-making.
  • Building high-performing teams across multiple locations.
  • Stakeholder engagement and advocacy at senior levels.
  • Working collaboratively with First Nations and culturally diverse communities.

While experience within the human services sector is highly regarded, the Board is seeking a leader capable of enabling specialist practitioners rather than being a technical subject matter expert themselves.

Why Join Relationships Australia NT?
This is an opportunity to:

  • Lead a respected and purpose-driven organisation.
  • Influence outcomes across the Northern Territory.
  • Shape the next strategic chapter of the organisation.
  • Work alongside an engaged Board committed to growth and sustainability.
  • Build meaningful social impact across diverse communities.
  • Enjoy the unique professional and lifestyle opportunities Darwin and the Northern Territory provide.

A competitive executive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, including attractive salary packaging benefits and motor vehicle provisions.

Relationships Australia NT is accredited as a Safeguarding Children organisation with the Australian Childhood Foundation. Therefore, all staff working at RA-NT are required to complete training regarding Safeguarding Children and mandatory reporting upon induction at RA-NT. Staff need to commit to the RA-NT Code of Conduct and all Safeguarding Children related policies.
