CAAPS Aboriginal Corporation in Darwin is seeking a CEO to provide strategic leadership and drive organisational performance across services supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. You will lead governance, financial sustainability, and stakeholder engagement with government, funding bodies, and communities.

The role requires a proven executive with a track record of growth, change management, and strong cultural safety.

About CAAPS Aboriginal Corporation

CAAPS is anAboriginal Community Controlled,community-based service that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to improve social and emotional outcomes.

CAAPS has been operating for over 39 years providing important services to people across the Northern Territory. Primary sources of funding are through the Commonwealth Government and the Northern Territory Government.

About the Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for providing visionary leadership, driving organisational performance, ensuring financial sustainability, strengthening governance, and advancing the long-term strategic objectives of the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished executive to lead a complex and values-driven organisation delivering culturally safe alcohol and other drug, family and community support services. Working closely with community, government, funding bodies, and sector partners, the CEO will champion innovation, advocacy, service excellence, and meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

You are an accomplished and values-driven executive with a proven track record of leading complex organisations through growth, transformation, and change. A strategic thinker with strong commercial and financial acumen, you have the ability to balance long-term vision with operational excellence, while building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

A trusted and authentic leader, you excel at building relationships with Boards, government agencies, funding bodies, community stakeholders, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You are passionate about creating positive social impact and are committed to advancing cultural safety, strengthening communities, and delivering sustainable outcomes through collaborative leadership and effective governance.

Essential skills and experience:

• Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. business and/or social sciences related.
• Proven executive leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead organisational strategy, performance, and growth.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including oversight of budgets, funding arrangements, and organisational sustainability
• Experience working with Boards and within complex governance and regulatory environments.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence across government, community, and funding sectors.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams through periods of change and growth
• A strong commitment to cultural safety and a demonstrated understanding of the aspirations, strengths, and challenges of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
