Job summary

NES Fircroft invites a Chemist to join a growing waste treatment and resource recovery facility near Kingaroy, QLD. This hands‑on role combines chemistry, operations and environmental management in an industrial setting.

You will support treatment of waste streams, conduct testing and analysis, and help optimise processes while working out in the plant and ensuring WHS compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or related field with chemistry fundamentals.
• Hands‑on industrial environment experience welcome.

• Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental regulations and site rules.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chemist to join a growing waste treatment and resource recovery facility based near Kingaroy, QLD.

This is a hands‑on role that combines chemistry, operations, and environmental management. Working within an industrial waste processing environment, you'll support the treatment of waste streams, conduct testing and analysis, and assist in optimising treatment processes.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys applying chemistry in a practical setting and is comfortable working out in the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with chemical treatment processes, including acid/caustic neutralisation and waste stream management.
• Conduct jar tests, flash tests, and process optimisation trials.
• Collect, analyse, and record samples from a range of waste streams.
• Monitor and support day‑to‑day plant operations and treatment activities.
• Prepare samples for external laboratory analysis and maintain accurate documentation.
• Assist with trials of new waste streams and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with WHS procedures, environmental regulations, and site requirements.
• Support chemical inventory management and general operational activities as required.

Skills & Experience

• Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of chemistry fundamentals and chemical processes.
• Comfortable working in a hands‑on industrial environment, including exposure to waste treatment operations.
• Willingness to work in a regional location.
• Practical, safety‑focused approach with a strong work ethic.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organisational skills.
• Interest in waste management, environmental sustainability, and resource recovery.
• Previous laboratory, manufacturing, waste treatment, mining, water treatment, or industrial experience will be highly regarded.
• Forklift licence advantageous (or willingness to obtain).
