Job summary

Cult Eatery at Macquarie University in Sydney, NSW, is seeking an experienced chef for a full-time role in a busy campus kitchen. You will cook breakfast and lunch, craft catering platters, and contribute to menu ideas in a supportive team.

Ideal candidates have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent), 3+ years of experience in fast-paced kitchens, and a reliable, calm approach. Weekdays only, with weekends free, and salary 65k–75k plus super.

Qualifications

• Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery (or solid equivalent experience).
• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery qualification.
• 3+ years commercial cooking experience if no formal qualifications.
• 2+ years kitchen experience in fast-paced environments (cafe, bistro, catering, corporate, university).
• Strong skills in grilling, sautéing, frying, plating, and buffet/catering presentation.
• Australian work rights – no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking high-quality breakfast & lunch dishes for the daily menu and specials.
• Delivering standout platters, buffets, canapés, boxed lunches, and tailored catering for university departments, corporate clients, and events.
• Assisting with menu development, seasonal specials, and custom catering proposals.
• Managing stock, portion control, waste minimisation, and food safety standards (HACCP).
• Working efficiently during peak service and event prep.
• Keeping the kitchen spotless, organised, and compliant.
