Merlot Restaurant is now looking for a Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team ensuring consistent high quality and memorable food experience for all our guests. This is a full-time position suited to a qualified chef with strong culinary skills, experience working within a professional restaurant or hotel kitchen, and the ability to take responsibility for a designated section of the kitchen.

Prepare and cook menu items to consistently high standards.
Take responsibility for the effective operation of a designated kitchen section.
Complete mise en place and ensure the section is fully prepared for service.
Monitor the quality, presentation, portioning and consistency of dishes throughout preparation and service.
Assist with menu preparation, development and implementation.
Assist with stock control, ordering and inventory management.
Monitor portion control, food waste and appropriate use of ingredients.
Work collaboratively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and other members of the kitchen team.
Coordinate effectively with front-of-house staff during service.
Guide and support junior chefs, commis chefs and kitchen team members where required.
Demonstrate appropriate cooking techniques and procedures to junior team members.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
Ensure kitchen equipment, work areas and storage areas are maintained to the required standards.
Assist the kitchen leadership team in maintaining consistent food quality and efficient kitchen operations.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
A relevant commercial cookery or culinary qualification, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience within a professional restaurant, hotel or comparable commercial kitchen environment.
Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or in a comparable chef position.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage a kitchen section.
Strong food preparation, cooking and presentation skills.
Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling requirements.
An understanding of portion control, food waste and stock management.
The ability to work effectively in a busy service environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to work a flexible roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
