UnitingCare Queensland is seeking an experienced Chef for Pinangba, Shalom Elders Village, in Condon, Townsville. The role is casual, with $31.44 per hour plus casual loading, super and Not-for-Profit salary arrangements.

You will prepare and serve meals with a strong emphasis on safety and dietary requirements, while assisting with menu design for residents. You should be trade qualified, with excellent communication and knowledge of Australian food standards, ready to meet probity checks and

About the role:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Chef aiming to restore their work life balance and gain employment in one of Australia’s fastest growing industries with the following:

• Prepare, cook and serve food in adherence with dietary requirements with a strong focus on food safety standards
• Support senior hospitality staff members with menu design and implementation
• Promote quality standards and maintain service with standard operating procedures including audit, stock control across all hospitality functions

Role requirements:

As an experienced Chef, you’ll take pride in your presentation, be knowledgeable in relation to nutrition and have a keen interest on the impact of dietary requirements on our aged residents.

You will have proven experience in safe food preparation, storage and delivery, a clear understanding of WHS, be confident in medium-high volume meal preparation and demonstrate the following:

• Relevant trade qualifications or equivalent skills from previous experience
• Great communication skills and excellent attention to detail
• Understanding of Australian food and beverage standards
• Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
