Job summary

Compass Group is seeking a casual Chef to join the HMAS Watson kitchen in Sydney. The role offers flexible shifts within a Defence hospitality environment, ideal for hospitality professionals seeking balance and career growth.

You will work in a structured kitchen, handling breakfast to dinner, with opportunities for career development and training within Compass Group.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery required.
• Experience in commercial kitchens, catering or bulk food production.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety and allergen management.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable with a positive and team-focused approach.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to obtain Defence clearance and National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and functions.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards.
• Support kitchen operations including stock control and deliveries.
• Ensure food quality, presentation and portion control standards are met.
• Assist with menu execution and daily food production.
• Work collaboratively as part of a professional kitchen team.
• Support catering requirements and special events as required.
