Job summary

MiCare Sdn Bhd is seeking a Chef to manage a station and oversee the preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals for elderly residents. The role requires strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of dietary needs, including texture-modified diets.

You will collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure safety, consistency and large-quantity production in a culturally sensitive environment.

Qualifications

  • Level 1 and 2 Food Safety certification or equivalent required.
  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery preferred.
  • Experience as Chef de Partie or similar in a production kitchen.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and dietary needs for elderly residents.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a specific station within the kitchen and oversee meal preparation.
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance across all dishes.
  • Collaborate with Head Chef and Team Leader Food Services on batch cooking for large quantities.
  • Maintain portion control and food quality for elderly residents, including texture-modified diets.
  • Support a clean, organized kitchen and efficient workflow in a busy environment.

The Role

The Chef is responsible for managing a specific station within the kitchen and overseeing the preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs of elderly residents. Working as part of a kitchen team, this role involves ensuring consistency, safety, and compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations. The will collaborate with the Head Chef, Team Leader Food Services and other kitchen staff to ensure that food is prepared in large quantities, while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring all dietary requirements (including texture-modified diets) are met. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of the nutritional and dietary needs of elderly residents.

  • Ability to complete the key responsibilities of the role to the required standard
  • Be aware of work health and safety requirements and report hazards and issues of concern.
  • Be aware of emergency procedures and location of evacuation exits and equipment
  • Assistance in the maintenance of a clean, hazard free environment
  • Follow workplace procedures for accident and incident reporting
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
  • Level 1 and 2 Food Safety Certificate / Appropriate Food Safety Competence
  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) is preferred
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role in a production kitchen.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety practices, including HACCP regulations.
  • Understanding of the dietary needs and nutritional requirements of elderly residents, including texture-modified diets.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Understanding of portion control and large-scale food preparation techniques.
  • Experience with batch cooking and the ability to adapt recipes for large quantities while maintaining food quality
