Job summary

Campbell Place in Glen Waverley, operated by Australian Unity, is seeking a Casual Chef to support the Head Chef and hospitality team in preparing resident meals to the highest standards. The role focuses on quality dining, strong hygiene practices, and building meaningful relationships with residents and their families.

You will work with a team of Cooks, Kitchen Hands and Food Service Assistants, ensuring dietary requirements are respected and feedback is used to improve menus.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery completed or equivalent.
• Experience in aged care or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of special dietary requirements helpful.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious meals, snacks and desserts to high standards.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and follow health and safety procedures.
• Engage with residents and families to gather feedback on menus.

The role

As the Chef you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef and Hospitality Teams while preparing resident meals to the highest quality and maintaining the highest hygiene standards.

We are not only focused on providing exceptional care to our residents but also on providing a safe, secure, friendly, and supportive environment for our staff members.

What you will be doing

• Preparing nutritious meals, snacks, and desserts to the highest standards
• Maintaining hygiene standards within the kitchen and adhering to health and safety procedures
• Developing relationships with residents and their families, providing companionship at mealtimes,and seeking feedback on menu improvements
• Working with a friendly team ofCooks, Kitchen Hands and Food Service Assistants

About you

We are looking for an experienced Chef with the following qualities and skills:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Experience in a similar role within Aged Care or a commercial kitchen would be advantageous
• Knowledge of special dietary requirements and modified meals would be beneficial.
• Willing to obtain an NDIS Clearance Check if successful
• Fully vaccinated for 2026 Influenza and COVID-19 (1 dose) or willing to obtain one
