Qualifications

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Work with kitchen and front-of-house teams and assist with training staff.

Court Lantern (Asian) Restaurant is seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team in Hamilton, Victoria. This is a full-time position offering an opportunity to work in an established regional restaurant and contribute to the preparation and delivery of a diverse Asian-inspired menu.

Court Lantern (Asian) Restaurant is an established restaurant located in the regional city of Hamilton, Victoria. We offer a diverse Asian-inspired menu and provide both dine-in and takeaway services to the local community.

Our menu includes a broad selection of stir-fried dishes, noodles, rice dishes, meat, poultry and seafood, with a focus on freshly prepared food, consistent quality and reliable service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook dishes in accordance with established recipes, menu requirements and restaurant standards, including a range of Asian-style dishes
  • Plan and prepare menu items and contribute to menu development in consultation with management and kitchen staff
  • Apply appropriate cooking techniques, including wok cooking and high-heat stir-frying, while maintaining consistency in taste, portioning and presentation
  • Coordinate food preparation and kitchen activities to ensure efficient and timely service during busy periods
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients, monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and appropriate food storage
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness throughout daily operations
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams and assist with training and supervising kitchen staff where required
Required Skills and Experience
  • Relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent industry qualification
  • Relevant experience in a commercial restaurant or kitchen environment
  • Strong practical cooking skills and sound knowledge of commercial kitchen operations
  • Experience with Asian cuisine and wok-based cooking techniques will be highly regarded
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements, with the ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
