Job summary

Decipher Bureau, on behalf of a Queensland Government client, seeks a Principal Security Specialist to own a complex Check Point firewall environment, driving assessment, optimization and migration strategies.

Reporting to the Director of Information Security Services, you will perform discovery, shape the future-state solution, transfer knowledge to the internal team and provide ongoing technical support during migration.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience managing Check Point firewalls.
• Strong experience with Check Point architecture, configuration, licensing and connectivity.
• Led or delivered firewall migrations and transformation projects.
• Excellent troubleshooting across complex security infrastructure.
• Experience conducting technical discovery and due diligence.
• Ability to document complex environments clearly and identify improvements.
• Experience mentoring technical teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed discovery and due diligence of the Check Point firewall environment.
• Document current architecture, connectivity, support model and operational requirements.
• Assess security, technical and supportability of the environment.
• Identify risks, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Estimate ongoing service management and support needs.
• Provide hands-on support across the Check Point environment.
• Develop migration options and recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
• Contribute to design and implementation of future-state firewall architecture.
• Assist with migrating existing firewalls to the chosen solution.
• Troubleshoot complex firewall and network security issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients and external providers.
• Support new security initiatives and documentation.
• Participate in rostered on-call arrangements.
