Job summary

Gold Fields is seeking a Charge Up Operator for Granny Smith underground operations. You will be responsible for charging development and production blasts, handling explosives, and maintaining firing lines to strict safety standards. FIFO from Perth is offered on a rotating 8/6 day roster.

Reporting to the Supervisor Underground Production, you’ll join a high-performing crew that supports underground blast readiness and continuous skills development in a challenging environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial underground mining experience with blasting exposure.
• WA Shotfirer's license and Dangerous Goods Card required or willing to obtain.
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a high‑risk environment.
• Manual C Class Driver's Licence is essential.
• WA DG Security Card and Working at Heights are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Charge development and production rounds.
• Safely handle and transport explosives under regulations.
• Tie up and prepare blasts accurately.
• Conduct pre and post-blast inspections.
• Maintain equipment and report issues promptly.
• Collaborate with underground crew to uphold safety and housekeeping.

The Opportunity

As a Charge Up Operator, you’ll be responsible for charging development and production blasts, handling and transporting explosives, maintaining underground firing lines and carrying out shot-firing duties to strict compliance and safety standards.

Reporting to the Supervisor Underground Production, you’ll join a high-performing crew that plays a vital role in underground blast readiness.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Substantial underground mining experience (Charge Up or Service crew exposure highly regarded, as well as use of emulsion and ANFO in blasting)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
• A proactive attitude with a commitment to working safely
• Able to work effectively in a team in a physically demanding underground environment
• WA Shotfirer's license (or willing to obtain)
• Valid manual C Class Driver's Licence
• WA Dangerous Goods Security Card and Working at Heights
