Job summary

Marble Group is looking for a Charge Up Operator to join an underground hard rock mine near Armidale, NSW. You will operate Normet charge rigs and work with production and engineering crews to prepare stopes for blasting.

This casual 3-month contract with potential extension offers a 7:7 roster, hotel-style accommodation, meal and DIDO allowances, and a strong focus on training and career development on a safety-first site.

Qualifications

• Current NSW BUEL - essential.
• Unrestricted driver's license (manual capable).
• Experience with JOHNEX or similar emulsions is desirable but not essential.
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
• Able to obtain National Police Clearance and pass pre-employment medical.

Responsibilities

• Operate Normet Charge rigs to safely charge production stopes.
• Charge longhole production rings per blast designs and procedures.
• Perform pre-start inspections and report defects or maintenance needs.
• Handle and use explosives per site procedures and legislation.
• Meet production targets while maintaining safety and quality.
• Collaborate with engineers and underground crews for efficient blasting.
• Maintain blast records and shift documentation.

Located in the New England region of NSW, this historic underground mining operation is entering an exciting new chapter of development, offering the opportunity to join a long-life project from the early stages of its growth. The operation offers:

• 7:7 lifestyle roster rotating days and nights with 12-hour shifts

The Role:

You will join an experienced underground production team responsible for safely charging production stopes within a modern hard rock mining operation. As a Charge Up Operator, you will operate Normet charge rigs while working closely with production and engineering crews to prepare stopes for safe and efficient blasting. Your duties will include:

• Operating Normet Charge rigs to safely charge production stopes using JOHNEX explosives
• Charging longhole production rings in accordance with blast designs and site procedures
• Conducting pre-start inspections and reporting equipment defects or maintenance requirements
• Handling and using explosives in accordance with site procedures and legislative requirements
• Working to production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality
• Collaborating with engineers, supervisors and underground crews to ensure efficient blasting activities
• Maintaining accurate blast records and completing required shift documentation

Your Skills and Experience:

You will come from a background working as a Charge Up Operator within the underground hard rock mining industry. You will also have the following skills and experience:

• Current NSW Blast User's Explosives Licence (BUEL) - essential
• Unrestricted driver's licence (ability to drive manual vehicles)
• Experience working with JOHNEX or similar emulsion explosive systems (desirable, not essential)
• Highly reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Ability to obtain a current National Police Clearance and pass a pre-employment medical

Contract and Salary:

Marble is partnered with this underground mining principle to supply casual contractors to the site for an immediate start. The opportunity exists to join the company on an initial 3-month contract through Marble with likely extension to 6 months. After this initial 6-month period, there is the potential to hand over to the principles books directly as a permanent employee although It's not guaranteed)

• Casual rates between $65ph - $75ph + super
• Weekly pay cycles whilst working through Marble
