Job summary

Confidential Australian group is launching a new direct-to-consumer e-commerce business from Melbourne. You will lead a founding team to build the online platform, establish supply relationships, and back it with the backing of an established group.

The CEO will own the commercial results from sourcing and supply through to marketing performance and customer experience, while being hands-on across all functions.

Qualifications

• Experience running or senior-managing an e-commerce or retail business, ideally through a start-up or growth phase.
• Strong commercial and financial skills: reading a P&L and managing margin and cash.
• Supplier, sourcing and supply chain experience.
• Hands-on leader comfortable in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the business and a team of two, including HR and people management.
• Own the numbers: monthly accounting overview, budgets and performance against plan.
• Run procurement, product sourcing, sampling and supply chain management.
• Oversee product testing and the quality of the range.
• Share responsibility for managing the website.
• Lead social media campaigns and paid search (PPC).
• Step in on customer service by email and phone when needed.

The opportunity

An established Australian home improvement group is launching a new direct-to-consumer e-commerce business. The website is being built now, and we are putting together a small, multi-skilled founding team to launch it and grow it. This is a rare chance to shape an online retail business from day one, with the supply relationships and backing of an established business behind you.

The role

As CEO you will lead the business and the team. You will own the commercial result, from sourcing and supply through to marketing performance and customer experience, and you will be hands-on across all of it.

What you'll do

• Lead the business and a team of two, including HR and people management

What you'll bring

• Supplier, sourcing and supply chain experience
• A working knowledge of digital marketing, including social media and paid search
• A hands-on approach and comfort working in a small team
• Home improvement, homewares or furnishings experience is highly regarded
