Expeditions Early Learning Journey, Raceview QLD, is opening a brand-new centre and seeking a passionate Centre Chef to lead our kitchen from day one. You will create nourishing meals and establish routines that support children's health and wellbeing, working closely with Educators and the leadership team.
We’re looking for someone with strong food-safety knowledge, the ability to manage a busy kitchen, and a collaborative, positive approach.
Expeditions Early Learning Journey – Raceview QLD
At Expeditions Early Learning Journey, we believe every child’s first life expedition should be filled with wonder, warmth and opportunities to grow.
And we know that nutritious, delicious food plays a pretty important part in that journey too!
Expeditions Early Learning Journey is a small, family-owned and operated early learning provider with services across Queensland. We are excited to be opening our brand-new Raceview 2 service, and we are looking for a passionate and organised Centre Chef to join us from the beginning.
This is an exciting opportunity to make the kitchen your own, help establish our menus and routines, and become an important part of the Raceview 2 community.
As our Centre Chef, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced and appealing meals and snacks for the children in our care.
But this role is about more than simply preparing meals.
You’ll become part of the centre community, working alongside our Educators and leadership team to create positive experiences around food and support children's health and wellbeing.
Your role will include:
Preparing fresh, nutritious and appealing meals and snacks for children
Planning and maintaining varied and balanced menus
Catering appropriately for allergies, intolerances and individual dietary requirements
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment
Managing food preparation, storage, stock rotation and kitchen supplies
Completing food safety and kitchen documentation
Managing food ordering and monitoring stock levels
Working collaboratively with Educators and the leadership team
Supporting positive experiences and conversations around food and nutrition
Maintaining consistently high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation
Contributing to the welcoming, family-orientated culture we want to create at Raceview 2
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about food, takes pride in their kitchen and genuinely enjoys being part of a community.
Ideally, you will bring:
Experience working as a Chef or Cook
Experience preparing meals for children or in an early learning environment would be highly regarded
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
Confidence catering for allergies, intolerances and different dietary requirements
Strong organisation and time-management skills
The ability to independently manage the day-to-day requirements of a busy kitchen
A positive and professional approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Creativity and enthusiasm when planning meals and menus
A genuine interest in supporting children's health, nutrition and wellbeing
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who shares our values of fun, empathy, understanding, integrity and accountability.
There is something special about joining a brand-new centre.
Rather than stepping into someone else's kitchen and routines, you'll have the opportunity to help establish the food culture at Raceview 2 from the beginning.
You’ll work alongside a supportive team who want our centre to be a place where children, families and Educators feel welcomed and valued.
We want the kitchen to be part of that experience.
When you join Expeditions, you will have access to:
90% off childcare fees
Paid Birthday Leave each year
Paid Professional Development
Employee Assistance Program
Supportive and approachable leadership
A friendly, family-owned organisation
The opportunity to establish and take ownership of the kitchen in a brand-new early learning service
A workplace where your ideas and contribution are genuinely valued
Our mission is to ensure every child in our care feels safe, happy, secure, supported and valued.
We strive to create an environment where children can learn through enquiry, discovery, imaginative play and meaningful social interactions, while ensuring our families and team feel welcomed, respected and supported.
As our Centre Chef, you'll be an important part of creating that environment every day.
