Job summary

Alcoa Portland Aluminium seeks a Mechanical Work Delivery Coordinator to join the Central Maintenance Team. You will coordinate maintenance work across site, including corrective and planned activities, using the eAM system, and supervise trades to ensure on-time, safe delivery of work.

The role emphasises safety, collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple work packages, with opportunities for growth within a large, values-driven organisation.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical fitter qualification or equivalent.
  • Advanced ability to isolate, diagnose and rectify complex equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving with clear technical guidance to others.

  • Experience in heavy manufacturing/industrial environments is advantageous.

An exciting opportunity exists within our Central Maintenance Team at Portland Aluminium for a Mechanical Work Delivery Coordinator.

The Work Delivery Coordinator is a member of a maintenance team who coordinates the performance of all aspects of maintenance work in a defined geographical area or functional/technical group.

In addition to the base maintenance trade’s role, they will co-ordinate and support site wide delivery of corrective and planned maintenance activities allocated or actively sought through the eAM system, in conjunction with the maintenance supervision team. The work delivery coordinator may be required to directly coordinate multiple work packages being delivered across site. They provide supervision, direction, support, and guidance to others. In particular, they coordinate and control work parties on a daily basis. They organise maintenance and shutdown activities by coordinating and providing work direction to internal and external tradespeople and contractor resources as required.

Work Delivery Coordinator’s are critical to ensuring that nominated work is safely handed over, executed and handed back to service to the quality required. This role is also key to ensuring that work is undertaken with minimum delays to maximise the productivity or our work parties. The work parties remain responsible for the safe execution of the work to the specified standards and scope.

What you can bring to the role
  • Mechanical - Fitter(Australian Apprenticeship, Tradesperson’s Rights Certificate or equivalent)

  • Advanced skills and knowledge necessary to isolate, diagnose, analyse and rectify complex equipment related problems

  • Problem-solving is a major component of this position and an essential skill requirement, along with good communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical advice and direction to others within and outside the team.

  • High levels of initiative and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Previous experience in heavy manufacturing / industrial or continuous production environment is considered advantageous.

  • Commitment to environment, health and safety in the workplace and a willingness to participate in safety improvement initiatives is essential.
