Job summary

De La Salle College Malvern seeks an experienced cello tutor to provide one-to-one lessons for students of all abilities and to direct the Senior Strings Ensemble, with support for the Junior Strings Ensemble. Teaching is currently on Wednesdays, with some scheduling flexibility.

Formal qualifications in cello performance and prior experience from beginner to VCE level are key, along with skills in music arranging and ensemble leadership.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Music Department, including Director of Music and Ensembles Coordinator.
• Teach one-to-one cello lessons and direct Senior Strings Ensemble; assist Junior Strings Ensemble.
• Coordinate lessons with school hours (7:30am–3:15pm) and occasional after-hours performances.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cello tutor at De La Salle College Malvern, to teach one to one private lessons to students of all abilities.

The position also includes Ensemble Direction of the Senior Strings Ensemble, and assistance with the Junior Strings Ensemble.

All teaching is currently delivered on Wednesdays, in order to coordinate with other programs within the Music Department, however there is some flexibility to adjust this schedule for the most suitable applicant.

Formal qualifications and experience in Cello Performance, significant prior experience in preparing students from beginner to VCE level are key requirements.

Music arranging, solo/ensemble repertoire research, and ensemble leadership are also key skills of the role.

Formal Education qualifications (including VIT Registration) are an advantage but not required.

Competitive Hourly Rates + Super, casual contract with an option to convert to permanent part-time after 12 months' service.

Job Description:

• This role works collectively and collaboratively with other members of the Music Department including especially, Director of Music, Ensembles Coordinator, Head of Strings.


• Lessons/ensemble rehearsals will take place during school hours 7:30am - 3:15pm


• The role also includes occasional after hours work at concerts and recitals.

Skills/Experience Required:
