Job summary

SOUMAH of Yarra Valley is seeking a hands‑on Cellar Door Manager to lead the tasting team and grow the Club Azzuro membership. You will own the visitor experience from cellar door through restaurant and on to accommodation, while driving sales and member engagement.

Reporting to the Venue Manager, you will train a small team, manage stock and POS, and ensure superb customer service with a passion for wine and storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct engaging, knowledgeable wine tastings for cellar door visitors.
• Maintain knowledge of French and Italian wines and Coterie Collection.
• Grow Club Azzuro membership through tastings and events.
• Manage Wine Club and customer information in digital systems.
• Coordinate dispatch of direct customer and Wine Club orders.
• Lead and train the cellar door team.
• Own the visitor experience end‑to‑end across venues.
• Forecast stock and manage cellar door inventory.
• Oversee stock, cash handling and POS operations.

Job description

SOUMAH of Yarra Valley are looking for a Cellar Door Manager to lead our tasting team and grow our membership programme. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who loves hospitality but thinks like a salesperson. Reporting directly to our Venue Manager, you will run day‑to‑day cellar door operations, lead a small, knowledgeable team, and take real ownership of growing our membership programme and support our overall visitor experience.

Key responsibilities

Conduct engaging, knowledgeable and professional wine tastings for Cellar Door visitors of both SOUMAH and our partner wines

Ensure a good knowledge of French and Italian wines and the Coterie Wine Collection offerings

Growing our Club Azzuro wine membership through tastings, events and genuine follow‑up engagement

Manage Wine Club and customer information within digital platforms

Coordinate the accurate and timely dispatch of direct customer and Wine Club orders

Leading and training our cellar door team

Owning the visitor experience end‑to‑end — from cellar door through the restaurant and onto our accommodation guests

Working with our team to convert leads and campaigns into visits and members

Managing cellar door inventory and sales forecasting

Managing stock, cash handling and point‑of‑sale operations

About you

A genuine love of wine and the stories behind it

A drive for sales and hitting targets, not just service

Strong people leadership, with the ability to train and get the best out of a small team

Excellent customer service and confident communication skills

Strong wine knowledge and a willingness to continually develop that knowledge

Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work independently and prioritise competing responsibilities

Current RSA and driver's licence

Availability to work weekends, public holidays and the occasional evening event
