Job summary

Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne’s Clayton VIC invites applications for a Production Technician in the Cell Therapies platform. The role leads day-to-day production, aseptic processing in an ISO‑8 cleanroom, staff supervision and ensuring regulatory compliance to deliver clinical-grade cellular therapy services and trials.

You will coordinate scheduling, maintain documentation, and support quality management while collaborating with Monash Health clinicians and researchers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science with substantial relevant laboratory experience in a regulated setting.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on HPC processing and cryopreservation in ISO 15189-regulated labs.
• Experience supervising technical or scientific staff.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 15189 and NPAAC requirements in production operations.
• Experience in a Quality Management System including documentation and deviation management.
• Current WWCC and National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day production activities including processing, cryopreservation, storage and distribution of cellular therapy products.
• Coordinate production activities including scheduling, workload allocation and prioritisation.
• Perform hands-on aseptic processing in an ISO‑8 cleanroom with guidance to staff.
• Supervise and support Production staff, including rosters and training.
• Coordinate staff induction, training and competency assessments.
• Ensure production activities and documentation comply with procedures and standards.
• Monitor workflows, identify issues, implement improvements.
• Coordinate equipment, consumables, and inventory readiness; oversee maintenance and validation.
• Collaborate with Quality Management on investigations, audits and corrective actions.
• Liaise with clinical teams, researchers and stakeholders on requirements and service delivery.
• Contribute to development and improvement of services and processes, support new projects.
• Occasional after-hours and weekend work as required to support time-critical production.
