Job summary

Columbia Aged Care is seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant for Strathdale Centre in Chatswood, NSW. You will support meal preparation, plate presentation, dining service, and infection control while ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety for residents.

You’ll work closely with cooks and care staff to deliver safe, nutritious meals and a positive dining experience. Prior experience in aged care or hospitality is valued, along with a current Food Safety Certificate and a valid Police

Qualifications

• Current Food Safety Certificate or equivalent is required.
• Strong commitment to food safety and IPC practices.
• Has a valid National Police Check (within 3 months).
• Experience in food preparation/kitchen operations, preferably in aged care/hospitality.
• Knowledge of WHS and safe operation of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks and portioning.
• Plate meals according to dietary requirements and presentation standards.
• Assist dining service in dining rooms or residents' rooms.
• Interact empathetically with residents and relay feedback to kitchen staff.
• Operate dishwashers and maintain hygiene of kitchen and dining areas.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen, scullery, dining areas, and storage spaces.
• Assist with waste management and stock rotation (FIFO).
• Report food safety concerns or equipment issues to supervisor.
• Follow HACCP guidelines and infection control procedures.
• Participate in weekly deep cleaning and inventory checks.
• Provide feedback to improve resident dining experiences.
