Job summary

Columbia Aged Care's Oberon Village is seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to support kitchen and dining services for residents, focusing on safe food handling and quality meals.

You will work with Cooks and care staff to prepare, serve, and maintain hygiene, while upholding IPC and infection control standards. The role offers a close-knit team and opportunities to contribute to resident wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Current Food Safety Certificate or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of food safety and infection prevention (IPC) practices.
• Experience in food preparation, kitchen operations, or catering.
• Knowledge of WHS principles and safe operation of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation tasks (washing, peeling, chopping, salads, sandwiches).
• Accurately portion and plate meals according to dietary needs and presentation standards.
• Set up dining areas and serve residents in dining rooms or rooms.
• Support cleaning, sanitising, and waste management in kitchen and dining areas.
• Operate dishwashers and ensure utensils are cleaned properly.
• Report any food safety concerns or equipment issues to supervisors.
• Maintain HACCP practices and infection control compliance.
