Job summary

Scalabrini Communities in Sydney’s NSW seeks a dedicated Catering Assistant (Kitchen Hand) to support our kitchen team at Bexley Village on a casual basis. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents and contribute to a welcoming dining experience.

The role suits someone with a passion for helping others, basic food preparation experience, and flexibility to work mornings, afternoons, weekdays and weekends. A Certificate III in Hospitality is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Friendly, approachable personality with genuine passion for helping others.
• Previous food preparation or kitchen-hand experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible to work a variety of casual shifts including mornings, afternoons, weekdays and weekends.
• Understanding of food safety standards and workplace requirements.
• Good communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
• Certificate III in Hospitality or equivalent is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality meals.
• Support food preparation, basic cooking, presentation, plating and meal delivery to dining areas.
• Provide friendly and attentive customer service to residents and their families.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
• Assist with stock control, stock rotation and receipting deliveries.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to maintain a positive and respectful workplace.

What you’ll doWorking closely with our kitchen team, you’ll help ensure residents enjoy nutritious, high-quality meals and friendly, attentive service.
