Job summary

Cafs is seeking a dedicated Youth Care Practitioner to provide day-to-day care, supervision and support to young people in residential care houses. This casual role offers a pathway to permanent part-time or full-time employment as vacancies arise.

You will build therapeutic relationships, support life skills and education goals, maintain accurate records and work with families and professionals. Rotas include mornings, afternoons and nights on a 24/7 roster.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or related discipline (or currently studying).
• 6–12 months' experience in residential care or youth services preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Sound written and record-keeping skills.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care, support and supervision to young people.
• Build positive, therapeutic relationships.
• Support young people to develop independence and life skills.
• Assist with education, employment and community engagement goals.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers and professionals.
• Apply trauma-informed and person-centred approaches in all interactions.
