Job summary

Belmont Veterinary Centre in Geelong is seeking a Casual Veterinary Nurse to join our experienced team. You will perform hands-on general practice nursing across inpatient care, routine exams, client education, and surgical support including anaesthetic monitoring and recovery.

Qualified with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, you should have GP clinic experience and display calm, organised, and flexible multitasking with strong communication.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
• Experience in GP veterinary clinics is highly regarded.
• Confident across reception, consults, and surgical nursing.
• Calm, organised, and flexible mindset with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to cover shifts on Wednesday to Friday and occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Hospital Nursing: Inpatient care, treatments, and fluid management.
• Consult Nursing: Supporting routine exams, client education, and treatments.
• Surgical Support: Anaesthetic monitoring, surgical setup, and recovery.

Belmont Veterinary Centre has been caring for the pets of Geelong since 1990. We are a well-established small animal practice dedicated to providing a calm, 'fear-free' environment for our patients and pet parents. As Geelong’s only Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic, our facility features a dedicated cat-only consult room, separate dog and cat hospital wards, an in-house IDEXX pathology lab, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and a fully equipped surgical suite.

About the Role

This is a flexible Casual opportunity covering maternity leave, with potential for ongoing permanent shifts. You’ll be joining a collaborative, supportive team led by Dr Erin, committed to high clinical standards, wellbeing, and positive culture.

Our nurses are encouraged to use the full scope of their skills and are actively involved in patient care, anaesthesia, dentistry, client education and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required availability for the following shifts:

• Wednesday to Friday: 10:30am – 6:30pm
• Saturdays: Occasional shifts from 8:45am – 12:15pm

You’ll be hands-on across the general practice nursing duties, including:

• Hospital Nursing: Inpatient care, treatments, and fluid management
• Consult Nursing: Supporting routine exams, client education, and treatments
• Surgical Support: Anaesthetic monitoring, surgical setup, and recovery

About You

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
• Previous experience in GP vet clinics is highly regarded
• Confident across reception, consults, and surgical nursing
• Passion for high clinical standards and delivering compassionate patient care
• Calm, organised, and flexible mindset with strong communication skills
