Job summary

The BUSY School Ipswich is seeking passionate and qualified relief teachers to join our Relief Teacher Pool.

Our campuses support young people in Years 11 and 12 who have disengaged from mainstream education by providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where students can reconnect with learning, complete their QCE, explore career pathways, and work towards meaningful employment outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current QCT Registration is required.
• Experience with QCAA and QCE processes is preferable.
• Trauma-informed and restorative practices are desirable.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and manage behaviour effectively.

Responsibilities

• Teach and support Years 11–12 in a relief capacity.
• Foster a safe, inclusive learning environment with small class sizes.
• Collaborate with campus principals, teachers, and support staff.

The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 47 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, Inclusive Employment Support, and allied health services.

The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Queensland and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO) offering flexible access to our program for all students across Queensland.

Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

This role requires that you hold Current QCT Registration.

Desirable skills and experience:

• Experience working with QCAA and QCE requirements, accountabilities and processes is preferable
• Motivated and genuine passion to work with disengaged youth and support students as part of holistic school team
• Experience and/or high level of understanding of trauma-informed and restorative practices is desirable
• You have experience in developing and implementing a range of strategies to support diverse needs of students through differentiation, support and behaviour management strategies.
