Job summary

The BUSY School Southport Campus on the Gold Coast is seeking a Youth Worker to case manage at‑risk youth through assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and review. You will monitor attendance data and apply intervention strategies to help students and families maintain at least 85% attendance.

This permanent full‑time role offers 38 hours per week during school term time with 4 weeks of annual leave.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure student outcomes.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to seek and secure opportunities.
• Ability to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes.

The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting nearly 50 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, Inclusive Employment Support, and allied health services.

The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 10 campuses across Queensland and New Zealand, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.Our program has expanded to include The BUSY School Online (TBSO) offering flexible access to our program for all students across Queensland.

Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.

About the position...

As a Youth Worker, your aim is to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people and families through integrated and coordinated service delivery.

• Permanent full time - 38hours a week
• Work 40 weeks a year - school term time with 4 weeks annual leave
• The proposed salary below is calculated annually accordingly in relation to working time.

About you...

• Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships with broad range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes for students are achieved
• You have knowledge and experience in working with youth in a vocational education pathway but not essential.
• Excellent communicator, a promoter who is influential with the ability to seek and secure opportunities
• Ability to obtain a Blue Card and National Police Check with no disclosable outcomes
