Job summary

Yarra City Council is hiring a Lifeguard on a fixed term casual summer contract with Yarra Leisure for the season Nov 1, 2026 – Mar 31, 2027. The role offers a competitive hourly rate and supportive team culture, with potential for ongoing reapplication.

Responsibilities

• Provide lifeguarding services to all patrons in City of Yarra’s Leisure centres.
• Supervise aquatic facilities to ensure patron safety.
• Intervene and prevent incidents to protect patrons, facility and equipment.
• Educate customers on pool safety rules including Watch Around Water and sauna/spa rules.
• Lead major incident response procedures in aquatic areas.
• Evacuate pools and assist with incident response in other areas.
• Monitor patron behaviour, ensuring adherence to the code of conduct.
• Use conflict management to resolve issues while keeping everyone safe.
