Job summary

Crown Resorts seeks passionate Stage Operators to join Crown Melbourne's Live Theatre team on a casual basis. You will support staging, mechanist and fly operations across theatre productions, rehearsals, performances and events.

You'll perform Mechanist, Flyperson and Duty Technician duties, assist with installing staging, scenery and fly systems, and ensure safe, efficient backstage operations in collaboration with production crews.

Qualifications

• Experience in theatre, staging or live entertainment environments.
• Strong teamwork and reliability in fast-paced settings.
• Sound understanding of safety practices in backstage operations.
• Ability to read staging instructions and cue documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support staging, mechanist and fly operations across theatre productions, rehearsals, performances and live events.
• Perform technical show functions including Mechanist, Flyperson and Duty Technician duties.
• Assist with installation of staging, scenery, fly systems and production equipment.
• Support technical rehearsals, show changes, performance operations and pack downs.
• Follow staging plots, cue sheets and technical documentation accurately.
• Maintain safe, organized backstage, workshop and storage areas.
• Collaborate with production teams and visiting crews to deliver shows safely.
• Ensure activities align with venue procedures and standards.

The Role

We’re seeking passionate and reliable Stage Operators to join our Crown Live Theatre team on a casual basis.

You’ll support the delivery of staging, mechanist and fly operations across Crown Melbourne’s theatre and entertainment venues. Working alongside world-class productions, concerts and live events, you’ll play a key role in ensuring shows are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards.

In this role, you will:

• Support staging, mechanist and fly operations across theatre productions, rehearsals, performances and live events.
• Perform technical show functions including Mechanist, Flyperson and Duty Technician duties.
• Assist with the installation of staging, scenery, fly systems, automation elements and associated production equipment.
• Support technical rehearsals, show changeovers, performance operations and pack downs.
• Follow staging plots, cue sheets, run sheets and technical documentation accurately.
• Assist in maintaining safe, organised and efficient backstage, workshop and storage areas.
• Work collaboratively with production teams, technical departments and visiting production crews.
• Ensure all activities are delivered safely and in accordance with venue procedures and operational standards.

You'll bring:

• Experience working in theatre, staging, mechanist, live entertainment or event environments.
• Experience assisting with staging installations, fly systems, scenic operations or backstage technical delivery.
• A sound understanding of stage machinery, mechanist systems and fly operations.
• Strong teamwork, communication and reliability.
• The ability to remain calm and focused in a live performance environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
• The ability to interpret and follow staging instructions, cues and technical documentation
  

Desirable Qualifications & Licences

• Working at Heights Licence.
• Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence.
• Test and Tag Qualification.
• Manual Driver's Licence.
• Dogging or Rigging Licence.
• Experience operating manual fly systems
