Job summary

Homestead Tavern in Brisbane's northside is seeking a casual cook to join our busy kitchen team. You will prepare and cook meals from our bistro menu, help with food prep, and ensure high standards of safety, cleanliness and presentation.

Ideal candidates have pub/restaurant cook experience, the ability to work independently during service, strong time management and teamwork, and a flexible roster with evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a cook in pub/restaurant/commercial kitchen.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Ability to stay calm during busy periods.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Available for a flexible roster including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals from our bistro menu to a consistently high standard.
• Work efficiently during busy lunch and dinner services.
• Assist with food preparation, portion control and stock rotation.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Follow food safety procedures and hygiene standards.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and management.
• Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation and service times.
• Minimise food wastage and assist with general kitchen operations.
