Job summary

NSW Health Pathology invites applications for a casual Medical Laboratory Assistant based at Lithgow Hospital and Portland Tabulam Multi-Purpose Service. You will assist with blood collection and core pre-analytical duties to support patient care across the region.

You will work within a supportive team, gain exposure to pathology services, and contribute to safe, timely diagnostic testing on a flexible casual schedule.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the pre analytical environment, including phlebotomy.
• Demonstrated ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment with competing priorities and time constraints.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, applying problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient computer skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy; operate pre analytical equipment.
• Understanding of confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Blood collection and phlebotomy are core duties in this role.
• Receive and triage specimens, patient registration and request entry.
• Process specimens and prepare for transport to laboratories for timely testing.
