Job summary

Creating Links is seeking OOHC Therapeutic Support Contact Workers to join our team in a casual capacity. You will facilitate and supervise family contact visits, helping children and young people maintain connections with their birth families in a safe, supportive environment.

You will work with caseworkers, carers and families to support positive family interactions and the wellbeing of children and young people. A minimum Certificate III in welfare and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III in a welfare-related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience or understanding of working with children and families with complex needs.
• Understanding of child protection principles and child development.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond sensitively to challenging situations while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail and maintaining accurate records.
• Confidence using computers and electronic recordkeeping systems.
• A current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check.
• Ability to meet the inherent physical requirements of the role.
• Desirable: Fluency in an additional community language.
• Desirable: Current First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Arrange, facilitate and supervise family contact visits between children and their birth families.
• Provide transport support to children, young people and carers for appointments and family contact visits.
• Help facilitate carer support groups and activities for children and young people.
• Maintain accurate case notes, observations and records in accordance with service, legislative, and Office of the Children’s Guardian requirements, including the electronic casework system.
• Identify, document and elevate any child safety or wellbeing concerns in line with child protection procedures.
• Work collaboratively with caseworkers, carers and the broader OOHC team to support positive outcomes for children and families.
