Job summary

Hawkesbury City Council — Mulgrave site — is seeking two casual Kennel Assistants to care for impounded animals, perform health checks, feeding, cleaning and shelter maintenance. You will work under the Companion Animals Team Leader, ensuring welfare and safe handling.

The role requires animal experience, a valid WWCC, and shelter software knowledge; rewards include a Fitness Passport, on-site parking, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Cert II or above in animal related study or studying an animal related qualification.
• Experience handling animals and knowledge of animal behavior.
• Great verbal and written communication.
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• The right to live and work in Australia
• Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• Background checks and medical declaration may be required.
• Knowledge of shelter management software such as Shelterbuddy and Companion Animal Register.
• NSW companion animal microchipping accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Care for impounded animals including health checks, feeding and cleaning.
• Exercise animals and maintain the shelter.
• Identify and report health concerns and ensure animal welfare.
• Handle animals safely and manage animal behavior.
