Job summary

Lutheran Disability Services is seeking compassionate Casual Support Workers for the 2026/2027 holiday period to support people with disabilities and their families. Role requires flexibility and availability for shifts across the holiday season, with potential for ongoing opportunities.

Shortlisted candidates will attend an Assessment Centre on 8 October 2026 or 15 October 2026, and induction sessions on 12 and 13 November 2026 to prepare for busy periods ahead.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Empathy and ability to provide support to individuals with disabilities.
• Reliable, flexible and available for last-minute shifts.
• Willing to work during the 2026/2027 holiday period.
• Ability to build respectful and supportive relationships.
• Problem solving to address client challenges; basic understanding of disability rights.
• Capability to assist with daily living activities including personal care and mobility.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities (hygiene, meals, medication management).
• Support access to community resources and educational/recreational activities.
• Develop individualized care plans with clients, families and professionals.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to help clients reach goals.
• Document progress and report changes to the team.
• Maintain a safe environment following health and safety protocols.
