Job summary

SeaLink South East Queensland is seeking a Casual Deckhand to join the Cleveland and Redland Bay crew, delivering exceptional customer service and supporting safe vessel operation and maintenance.

The role involves assisting with daily operations, safety compliance, loading, mooring, patrols, and participation in emergency plans, with a 7-day roster and opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• GPH Certificate of Competency is the minimum requirement.
• Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR.
• High level of computer literacy including various software packages.
• Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in the maritime transport industry preferred.
• RSA certificate.
• Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) and CPR.
• Coxwain NC - Certificate of Competency.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service.
• Assist with safe daily operations of the vessel.
• Identify safety concerns and assist with implementation to prevent incidents.
• Participate in emergency response plans.
• Monitor loading of vehicles and passengers and provide clear directions.
• Maintain vessel cleanliness and general upkeep.
• Moor the vessel securely and inspect mooring lines.
• Carry out deck patrols and protect the vessel while berthed.
• Follow Safety Management System and participate in emergency procedures.
• Manage ticket sales and checks in compliance with policy.
