Job summary

SeaLink South East Queensland is seeking a casual Deckhand to support the Cleveland and Redland Bay operations. You will assist in the safe operation, maintenance and upkeep of the vessel, while delivering exceptional customer service to passengers.

Working with the vessel crew, you will monitor loading, follow safety procedures, participate in emergency response plans, perform deck patrols, assist mooring, and help with ticket checks and customer directions, all while upholding WH&S standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold General Purpose Hand (GPH) certificate of competency.
• Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) & CPR required.
• Coxwain NC certificate of competency is preferred.
• Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) & CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safe daily operations of the vessel.
• Identify safety concerns and notify Master/Operations.
• Participate in emergency response plans.
• Monitor loading of vehicles/passengers and give directions.
• Maintain vessel cleanliness and general upkeep.
• Moor the vessel and manage mooring lines.
• Conduct deck patrols and protect the vessel in berth.
• Follow Safety Management System procedures and participate in emergencies.
• Conduct ticket sales and checks and ensure compliance.
