Australian Maritime Systems – Brisbane QLD is seeking experienced casual Deckhands to join the launch crew. You will work with Pilot Vessel Masters to transfer pilots safely, efficiently, and in a cost-effective manner across South East Queensland.

You must hold a Master Class 5 skipper ticket, MED 2 certification or higher, SROCP and MSIC, plus a Brisbane-based work eligibility. The role offers opportunities to contribute to safety, compliance, and vessel upkeep while working within a dynamic

Responsabilités

• Transfer pilot launches safely and efficiently for Marine Pilots and transfers.
• Communicate with Brisbane VTS, port traffic, operations teams and other crews.
• Monitor day-to-day vessel conditions and report maintenance issues.
• Provide routine maintenance/engineering on vessels as required.
• Ensure compliance with POSMS, AMSA regulations, NSCV standards and internal PSP policies.

Poseidon Sea Pilots (PSP), an AMS Group subsidiary company, provide high quality marine pilotage services for Brisbane and Melbourne in addition to an increasing list of national ports. We are growing fast, improving our capability, and ultimately leading the transformation of marine pilotage operations for the next generation.

We are looking for experienced and motivated casual Deckhands to join our dedicated launch crew in South East Queensland. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a dynamic and progressive team of specialists and innovators of Australia’s most forward-looking pilotage team.

Working closely with our Pilot Vessel Masters, our Deckhands must display recent and highly competent boat handling skills and the ability to:

Ensure our Marine Pilots and any other agreed transfers are transferred in a safe, reliable, timely and cost-effective manner.

Communicate with Brisbane VTS, port traffic, the Brisbane operations team, other launch crews and marine pilots.

Proactively anticipate changes in pilotage movements and amend transfer operations accordingly.

Ensure pilot launches maintain compliance with all local and international laws and internal PSP policies.

Be responsible for the implementation, documentation, and verification of the Pilotage Operations Safety Management System (POSMS) as it relates to pilot launches and launch crew to ensure continual compliance and audit processes.

Monitor the day-to-day condition of PSP vessels, complete routine checks and report maintenance issues as per PSP procedures.

Deliver operational maintenance/engineering on our vessels as required.

Assist launch crew in keeping pilot launches and other company assets in superior quality and condition.

Successful applicants will meet the following requirements:

Experienced Master Class 5 (unrestricted ticket) Skipper.

Current MED 2 (Marine Engine Driver) or higher certification.

Strong knowledge of shipping operations, with port operations experience preferred.

Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP).

Current Drivers Licence.

A current AMSA 1850 Medical or higher and a valid MSIC (or the ability to obtain).

First Aid and CPR certification

Relevant working rights for Australia to be considered for this role.

Recent and competent vessel handling skills.

Ability to deliver and interpret the reporting requirements in accordance with MSQ, AMSA and NSCV standards.

Familiarity with responsibilities under the Maritime Safety Queensland Act and Regulations.

Marine engineering skills and/or training are highly preferable.

Applicants are required to be Brisbane based.
