Job summary

Genea is seeking an experienced Day Surgery Nurse to join our Sydney team on a casual basis. You will be involved in patient admission, pre-operative prep, assisting doctors, recovery care, discharge planning and day-to-day Day Surgery support.

The ideal candidate will have scrub/scout or anesthetic/recovery experience, be a registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA, and hold a Working with Children Check. Experience in reproductive or infertility settings is desirable.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA is mandatory.
• Previous day surgery/anaesthetic recovery experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

• Admission, screening and pre-operative preparation.
• Assist Doctors in the procedure room.
• Provide recovery care and discharge instructions.
• Handle specimens, medications and blood products as applicable.
• Support day surgery operations as required.

Job Description

As a Genea Day Surgery Nurse, your duties will include;

• Patient admission, screening and pre-operative preparation
• Assist Doctors with treatment in the procedure room competently
• Provide safe and effective recovery care to patients, escalating for clinical review as indicated
• Patient discharge - assessment of readiness and issue of post-operative instructions and medications
• Safe handling and management of specimens, medications, antibiotics and blood products (where applicable)
• Assist in the day to day activities of the day surgery as required

Qualifications

This role is perfect for an experienced Day Surgery Nurse looking for some casual hours. You will bring your strong clinical experience to this role, and also an exceptional commitment to patient care.

Your previous experience and qualifications will ideally include;

• Have scrub/scout or anesthetic/recoveryexperience
• Be focused on customer service and patient care, both directly face to face and in a supporting role (telephone, email, etc).
• Be a registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA (mandatory)
• Have a working with Children's Check (mandatory)
• Experience in a variety of nursing areas such as midwifery, reproductive and female health, and/or infertility is desirable
