Job summary

AlburyCity is recruiting a Casual Early Childhood Educator to support the Banjora Children’s Centre. You will help deliver education programs, work with children individually and in groups, and maintain records and safety standards.

Based in Lavington, the role requires a Certificate III in Community Services (Children's Services) or progress toward it, NSW Working with Children clearance, first aid and safety training, and a current police check.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Community Services (Children's Services) or working towards.
• NSW Working with Children Clearance.
• Current First Aid Certificate (compulsory to have and maintain).
• Current Accredited Emergency Asthma Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain).
• Current Accredited Anaphylaxis Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain).
• Current Australian National Police Check (within 3 months).
• Complete National Mandatory Child Safe Training prior to starting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with education programs meeting developmental, cultural and special needs of children.
• Actively engage with children as individuals and as a group, supporting daily routines and skill development.
• Complete children's daily records and attendance details.
• Comply with Education and Care Services National Amendment Regulations 2021.
• Report maintenance and equipment needs and replacements.
• Follow housekeeping practices to keep equipment in good condition.
• Be responsible for cleaning in relation to the group.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Supervisor within skill and training.
• Observe child safety commitments and WHS policies and procedures.

THE POSITION:

To ensure that AlburyCity's Early Childhood Education and Care service operates in an efficient and effective manner and provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment for all children attending Banjora.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To assist with the provision of education programs which meet the developmental, cultural and special needs of individual children attending the centre.
• To be actively involved with children as individuals and as a group, assisting them to cope with the daily routines and to develop their basic skills.
• To complete children's daily records and record attendance details for children.
• To comply with Education and Care Services National Amendment Regulations 2021
• To report on all maintenance and equipment needs and replacements.
• To follow housekeeping practices which ensures that equipment is maintained at an optimal level.
• To be responsible for cleaning in relation to the group.
• Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
• To observe AlburyCity’s commitment to being a child safe organisation, creating safe environments that minimise the risk of harm with a zero tolerance for child abuse, violence and neglect.
• Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

• Based on a 38 hour week, working on a casual basis, with actual days and times to be negotiated with the supervisor, with no RDO.
• This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
• This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the work day - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
• This position requires evidence of vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
  • Hepatitis A
  • Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
  • Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
• This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children Clearance
• This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
• This position is located at Banjora Children's Centre (Cardo Drive, Lavington) with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building as required

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Certificate III in Community Services (Children's Services) or working towards

• Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework as well as the National Quality Framework
