Job summary

Surf Life Saving NSW is seeking casual lifeguards to join our team across Western Sydney locations, including Penrith Beach and Parramatta. If you are passionate about water safety and enjoy outdoor work, we want to hear from you.

The role involves guarding duties, responding to incidents, and providing first aid while delivering excellent service. Flexible shifts across the summer season and the chance to contribute to a community-focused, not-for-profit organisation.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard qualifications (Bronze Medallion or Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue)) required.
• Provide First Aid and demonstrate strong swimming ability (400m in 8 minutes).
• Valid unrestricted Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Respond to aquatic incidents and provide first aid as required.
• Deliver excellent customer service and promote safe swimming.
• Work with the ALS management team to deliver lifeguard services across patrol periods.
• Maintain a safe recreational environment at Western Sydney locations.

Job description

The Australian Lifeguard Service (ALS) are looking for highly motivated, self-driven casual lifeguards to join our team across multiple aquatic locations in Western Sydney. If you're passionate about water safety, enjoy working in a dynamic, outdoor environment, and want to make a difference in your community, we'd love to hear from you! Candidates with availability right across Summer are preferred.

These positions will involve establishing and maintaining a safe recreational environment and providing an effective lifeguarding service across a range of Western Sydney locations. All training is provided!

About the role:

As a lifeguard, you'll be responsible for:

• Responding to aquatic incidents and providing first aid when required
• Delivering excellent customer service and promoting safe swimming practices.

The role will work alongside the ALS management team and its large pool of lifeguards to ensure safe and successful delivery of the lifeguard service over the key patrol periods.

Some of the key duties will include:

Deliver lifeguard operations within the boundaries of the allocated region

What you'll need (training can be provided where required):

• SLSA Bronze Medallion/Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) - Pool Lifeguard qualifications are also viewed favourably.
• Provide First Aid
• Strong swimming ability, including the ability to swim 400 metres in 8 minutes within a 25 or 50 metre pool.
• Substantial experience and technical knowledge of lifeguarding or similar public safety roles
• An understanding of Surf Life Saving procedures, practices, and policies (desirable)
• A current unrestricted Motor Vehicle Drivers Licence and access to own vehicle
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and Public Holidays (where required)

Western Sydney locations, including Penrith Beach, Parramatta and Bents Basin

Position

Casual shifts available. Monday-Sunday. Summer school holidays through to the end of April.
