Job summary

Surf Life Saving NSW is seeking casual beach lifeguards for Western Sydney locations. Penrith and other spots in Western Sydney require you to respond to incidents, perform first aid, and promote water safety.

Ideal candidates hold Bronze Medallion/Cert II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue), have strong swimming ability, and a valid driver's licence. Flexible summer shifts and support from a dedicated team are provided.

Qualifications

• Bronze Medallion or Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) required.
• Provide First Aid certification.
• Must swim 400 metres in 8 minutes.
• Substantial lifeguarding/public safety experience preferred.
• Current unrestricted driver's licence and access to own vehicle.
• Flexible hours, including weekends/Public Holidays.

Responsibilities

• Respond to aquatic incidents and provide first aid.
• Deliver customer service and promote safe swimming practices.

Casual Beach Lifeguard – Western Sydney

Location

Penrith, Sydney NSW (Remote)

The Australian Lifeguard Service (ALS) are looking for highly motivated, self-driven casual lifeguards to join our team across multiple aquatic locations in Western Sydney. If you’re passionate about water safety, enjoy working in a dynamic, outdoor environment, and want to make a difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you! Candidates with availability right across Summer are preferred.

These positions will involve establishing and maintaining a safe recreational environment and providing an effective lifeguarding service across a range of Western Sydney locations. All training is provided!

About the role:

As a lifeguard, you’ll be responsible for:

• Responding to aquatic incidents and providing first aid when required
• Delivering excellent customer service and promoting safe swimming practices.

The role will work alongside the ALS management team and its large pool of lifeguards to ensure safe and successful delivery of the lifeguard service over the key patrol periods.

Some of the key duties will include:

• Lifeguard Service Delivery: Deliver lifeguard operations within the boundaries of the allocated region

What you’ll need (training can be provided where required):

• SLSA Bronze Medallion/Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) – Pool Lifeguard qualifications are also viewed favourably.
• Provide First AID
• Strong swimming ability, including the ability to swim 400 metres in 8 minutes within a 25 or 50 metre pool.
• Substantial experience and technical knowledge of lifeguarding or similar public safety roles
• An understanding of Surf Life Saving procedures, practices, and policies (desirable)
• A current unrestricted Motor Vehicle Drivers Licence and access to own vehicle
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and Public Holidays (where required)

Western Sydney locations, including Penrith Beach, Parramatta and Bents Basin

Position

Casual shifts available. Monday-Sunday. Summer school holidays through to the end of April.
