Job summary

Berry Street in Shepparton is seeking a Foster Care Case Manager to support children and young people in care, coordinating day-to-day needs and supervising foster carers. The role focuses on trauma-informed practice and partnerships with stakeholders to achieve stable, nurturing placements.

You will manage placement identification, coordination, and ongoing support, aligning with therapeutic foster care approaches.

Qualifications

  • Experience in case management, foster care, child and family services.
  • Strong trauma-informed practice and child safety knowledge.

  • Excellent advocacy, communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex service environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Welfare, Community Services, or Diploma with 3 years relevant experience.

The Opportunity

This is a meaningful opportunity to play a vital role in supporting children and young people in care by helping to create safe, stable and nurturing foster placements. As a Foster Care Case Manager, you will work closely with dedicated volunteer foster carers, providing guidance, supervision and ongoing support to ensure positive placement experiences.

In this collaborative role, you’ll be the key point of contact for coordinating each child or young person’s day-to-day needs, working in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes. You’ll also contribute to identifying and establishing placements, including specialised therapeutic foster care, while supporting trauma-informed approaches that promote healing, stability and long-term wellbeing.

About You

You are a committed and values‑driven case manager who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people in out‑of‑home care.

You will bring:

  • Experience in case management, foster care, child and family services, youth work or a related field
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, child safety and out-of-home care
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, young people, carers and key stakeholders
  • Strong advocacy, communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex service environment
  • A Bachelor’s degree qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Welfare, Community Services, or a Diploma qualification with 3 years minimum of relevant experience
