Job summary

Protech is seeking qualified carpenters for a government housing project based in Portsmith, Cairns. The role is casual with a start date of 1 September 2026 and runs through to 30 November 2026, with potential for extension.

You will carry out carpentry works on modular housing construction, perform general maintenance and cross-trade duties, and work either independently or in a small team. A White Card, driver's licence and WH&S knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified carpenter with trade certificate.
• Construction White Card held.
• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport.
• Experience in residential or commercial construction.
• Able to work independently or in small teams and follow WH&S rules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out carpentry works on modular housing construction projects
• Complete general maintenance and cross-trade duties as required
• Work independently or within a small team environment
• Maintain accurate records and utilise basic computer systems
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment

TICKETS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Qualified Carpenter (Trade Certificate)
• Construction White Card
• Current Driver’s Licence and reliable transport
• Experience within residential or commercial construction
• Ability to work within a small team or independently
• Sound understanding of WH&S requirements
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to undertake a variety of trade-related tasks
