Job summary

CORE CARPENTRY PROJECTS PTY LTD is seeking a skilled Carpenter in Victoria, Australia. The role covers interpreting plans, measuring and cutting timber, and constructing framing and finishing work on residential and commercial projects.

You will collaborate with other trades to ensure safe, efficient project completion and adherence to Australian standards. A minimum 1 year carpentry experience and relevant certs are expected, with a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate III in Carpentry is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Sound knowledge of carpentry techniques and safety practices in Australian workplaces.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and specifications to determine project requirements and measurements.
  • Prepare work layouts and organise timber and building material procurement.
  • Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber components with hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate and install wall framing, roofs, subfloors and flooring systems.
  • Install door and window frames, claddings and roof sheeting to high quality standards.
  • Inspect, maintain and repair timber structures and fixtures as required.
  • Work safely with various materials and coordinate with other trades on site.

About the Roles CORE CARPENTRY PROJECTS PTY LTD is an Australian-owned company providing residential and commercial carpentry services. The business is committed to delivering quality workmanship, safe construction practices, and reliable building solutions that meet Australian industry standards. To support its growing operations, the company is seeking to nominate a skilled Carpenter. The role involves interpreting plans, measuring and cutting materials, constructing and installing timber structures, completing framing and finishing work, carrying out repairs, and working with other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine project requirements, material quantities, dimensions, and installation methods.
  2. Prepare work layouts and organise the selection and procurement of timber and other building materials required for each project.
  3. Measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble timber components using appropriate hand and power tools, ensuring accurate installation.
  4. Fabricate and install wall framing, roof frameworks, subfloor structures, and flooring systems in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
  5. Fit and secure door frames, window frames, fascia boards, roof sheeting, and external wall cladding to achieve a high-quality finish.
  6. Assemble prefabricated timber structures and fittings before installing them safely and accurately on-site.
  7. Prepare, cut, and fit timber joints to ensure precise alignment, durability, and structural integrity.
  8. Construct, erect, and dismantle concrete formwork where required to support construction activities.
  9. Inspect, maintain, repair, and replace damaged or worn timber structures, fixtures, and fittings as required.
  10. Work with a range of construction materials, including timber, plastic laminates, Perspex, and light metals, to meet the specific requirements of different building projects.
Requirements
  1. Minimum Certificate III in Carpentry (or related field).
  2. At least 1 year of experience working as a Carpenter.
  3. Sound knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, and Australian workplace health and safety practices.
  4. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  5. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
