Job summary

The United Protestant Association of NSW Limited (UPA) is seeking a part-time Home Care Employee to provide compassionate, person-centred care in the community. You will work under the Home Care Manager to deliver flexible services, supporting daily living needs and maintaining dignity for clients in NSW.

Role requires a Certificate III in Individual Support (or studying toward it), a current First Aid certificate, and a valid Australian driver’s licence with access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or working towards.
  • Ability to provide a wide range of person-centred care duties.
  • Understanding of Consumer Directed Care and person-centred care principles.
  • Care skills driven by compassion and empathy.
  • Experience in aged care desirable.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts across days.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing individualised care under the Home Care Manager or Coordinator.
  • Assist consumers with activities of daily living per their Care Plan.
  • Maintain privacy, confidentiality and dignity; build professional relationships.
  • Respond to emergencies using first aid within duties of a Home Care Employee.
  • Record and report consumer care activities and incidents.
  • Report Hazards and incidents and help implement controls.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Home Care Employee to provide individualised, flexible and innovative quality care & services to consumers in the community.


Duties will include (but not limited to): -

  • Assisting in the provision of individualised care - using the consumer directed care approach for our Consumers under the direction of the Home Care Manager or designated Coordinator;
  • Assisting Consumers with activities of daily living according to assessed needs and goals as specified in their Care Plan, such as: personal care; domestic assistance; social and emotional support; transportation; respite for carer/family members;
  • Ensuring privacy, confidentiality and dignity of consumers and maintain professional working relationship at all times;
  • Responding to emergency situations using first aid within the responsibilities of a Home Care Employee;
  • Reporting and maintaining appropriate written records regarding consumer care;
  • Reporting of any Incidents and Hazards identified during your working day and working with the Home Care Manager to implement control measures

What you bring

  • A Certificate III in Individual Support (or working towards)
  • The ability to provide a wide range of person-centred care duties
  • An understanding of the Consumer Directed Care and Person-Centred Care principles
  • Care skills that are driven by compassion and empathy
  • Experience in Aged Care desirable
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Hold a current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • A registered and comprehensively insured motor vehicle and willingness to use for consumer services
  • Team player who is highly motivated and ability to work autonomously
  • Confidence in use of technology
  • Availability to work various shifts across various days
