The University of Melbourne invites applications for a Research Fellow in Carbon Mineralization at Parkville, Victoria. The role focuses on experimental and modelling research to advance ex situ carbon mineralisation, operating a pioneering DAC-MIN pilot plant and developing practical CO2 mitigation strategies.

You will publish results, supervise PhD students, and contribute to funding proposals while collaborating across disciplines within the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric

Qualifications

• PhD in hydrogeochemistry, industrial chemistry, chemical engineering or related field.
• Strong research background in fluid–rock reactions or carbon mineralisation.
• Peer-reviewed publications commensurate with career stage.
• Proven ability to lead, plan and deliver complex experimental programmes.

Responsabilités

• Design and conduct lab experiments and geochemical modelling for ex situ carbon mineralisation.
• Develop methods for leaching, impurity removal, and carbonate precipitation from wastes.
• Operate and optimise a DAC-MIN pilot plant with safety and efficiency in mind.
• Publish high-impact work and contribute to funding proposals and partnerships.
• Co-supervise graduate students and nurture collaborative research culture.
